Navigating the Auckland bar scene is overwhelming, to say the least - new hot-spots and events are constantly popping up around the city.
We find ourselves frequenting the same spots that might have a good happy hour deal but aren't exactly fresh and exciting. If you're anything like us you always challenge yourself to impress the group-chat with unique destination suggestions for Friday night drinks.
We have you covered, whether you're in the mood for exotic gastronomical cocktails, an action-packed night out or somewhere out-of-this-world Instagramable. Soon you’ll be hailed as the ultimate bar-hopping expert - no need to thank us! The Vodka Room

If vodka is your spirit of choice - this is a must-visit. Inspired by over-the-top bars in Moscow city - glamour and mixology are taken to the next level here. Located on the fringe of Grey Lynn and Ponsonby - this relative newcomer is a standout for us. We can just picture ourselves sipping martinis and belting our hearts out in their extravagant karaoke rooms. If you’re planning for a special occasion or just a lavish girls-night-out, this has this be our top recommendation. Plus, have you seen those fuchsia armchairs? So glam.
Holey Moley

Holey Moley is the best thing to happen to the Auckland city bar scene, mark our words. This downtown bar is gaining traction as the best place for a post-work pick me up with your social circle. This bar will bring out your competitive streak as you navigate their insane indoor mini-golf course. Every level of the course is more creative than the other with pop-culture references at every point. The bonus? Their drinks are just as crazy and creative as their course. Be sure to snap a group pic on the iconic Simpsons family couch.
Parasol and Swing

Parasol and Swing is the bar that you haven’t heard of until now, but wish you had. Step inside and be transported to a Vietnamese paradise where the decor is just as breathtaking as the bespoke cocktails. The bar stretches over two levels, leaving plenty of breathing room for intimate catch-ups or a romantic date night. If you’re looking to bring the “wow-factor” to your next night out, this is the place.
Dr Rudi’s Rooftop Brewing Co.

Dr Rudi’s has crowned itself “Auckland’s best rooftop bar” and we can’t help but agree. The venue is massive - from the balcony view of the gorgeous harbour, the massive bar area and indoor dining fit with a grand piano and the bowling alley (yes, you heard us right). There is no way that you’ll strike-out with this bar on the cards - our favourite way to do Rudi’s is by hiring out the entire bowling alley and enjoying their legendary pizza by the foot. They also boast an insanely long menu of wine, beer, cider and cocktails.
Marina Cantina

Located in the heart of Half Moon Bay, Marina Cantina combines both nautical and Mexican themes to create a bold and bright atmosphere. If weekend drinks are on the table - then this is our ultimate pick for something off the beaten track. The decor is so on point and you can’t beat sunset drinks at the bay. Their margaritas are a must - they even serve up a “Breakfast Margarita” - intriguing?
