The introduction of Mecca Maxima to the New Zealand beauty market has been equal parts glorious and detrimental.
Yes, Mecca Cosmetica on its own was great and all but we were severely deprived when it came to attaining products from well-loved global brands; Too Faced, Soap & Glory and Urban Decay to name a few.
It really does feel like a treat when you receive your products perfectly packed up, in a box lined with tissue from your online shop or being handed the pink bag over the counter.
Although there are products that we will always be lusting over at The Daily Edit, we know that we need to be practical when it comes to beauty buying.
What is an essential to me? And what is a splurge item that will improve my beauty routine?
We have rounded up our Mecca Maxima top picks and have curated a wish-list which will hopefully inspire or guide you when you are next visiting a store.
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ in Coconut

The original Prep + Prime Fix+ is no doubt a cult favourite from the beauty giant that is MAC.
In 2017 MAC released limited edition Fix+ scents, which were eventually introduced into the permanent range.
Lavender and Rose are part of the new trio but we have heard too many fantastic things about the Coconut version in particular to not give it a try next time we’re in need of a setting spray.
Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick

Hourglass is the epitome of lust-worthy makeup, it can almost do no wrong.
When you think of the brand you think of glow, luxury, and emphasis on refining your base.
The Vanish Highlighting Stick was recently released to the NZ market and is an ultra-pigmented creamy highlighter.
If or when we get our hands on it (we’re eyeing up the shade Champagne Flash) we envision using it with a damp
Beauty Blender to create a gorgeous glow.
STILA Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow

Initially we were a bit obsessed with the Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow version of the liquid eyeshadow that Stila released, but the Shimmer & Glow looks even more gorgeous.
The brand has converted some of their famous shades (including Kitten) into a creamy lid product.
What we’ve heard so far? They stay put all day, applies smoothly and can be worn super opaque or sheer.
NARS Liquid Blush

The hype surrounding this blush formula is unreal.
To be fair, it’s super hard to find a pigmented and blendable cream blush formula.
According to reviews, the Orgasm shade for the liquid blush is much more natural and wearable than the original powder version.
