New Beauty Picks: A Haul

Navigating the beauty market can be equal parts exciting and overwhelming, since when did we have so much choice? The likes of Mecca Maxima and Sephora online have broadened our horizons when it comes to brands which is a blessing and a curse. We can conveniently get our hands on international brands but is there enough time in this life to try every single raved about product on the market?

Recently we refined our beauty hit-list, with the assistance of our last article (read here), and purchased some hyped products in the beauty community as well as re-introducing some tried and true products.

Re-purchasing products can become a bit of a chore, yes you love the products and feel like you can't achieve your signature look without them, but the feeling of buying the same product isn't quite the same as how a new product feels.

Here is the coveted collection of new goodies which we hope will amp up our current beauty routines.

1. MAC Cosmetics Fix + in 'Coconut' - This product was mentioned in our last beauty article. Most everyone will have tried the beloved Fix + spray or at least heard of it, but the launch of the previously limited edition scents into MAC's permanent range excited us to the point of purchasing. The scent is just like sweet coconut milk and it feels more soothing than the original version, this might be a placebo effect but we're choosing to believe otherwise. We recommend purchasing this product in the summertime, it would be ideal for beach days.

2. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser - It often feels like this brand can truly do no wrong. This is a re-purchase product and as far as tinted moisturisers go, this is one of the most favoured by consumers. The coverage is light with an SPF of 30 - it does what it promises, leaves a radiant finish on the skin and is ideal for the ever-trendy "no makeup, makeup" look.

3. Benefit Cosmetics High Brow Glow Brow Highlighter - We aren't willing to rave too much about this product, it's pretty but not run out of the house and buy it now pretty. A glowing brow highlight is often difficult to achieve so the convenience of this product is appealing. The luminous pearl colour of the product is lovely and it best used warmed up on the back of the hand before swiping on the brow bone.

4. Lancome L'Absolu Lacquer Gloss in Shade 188 "Only You" - Can you call a makeup product iconic? Because we are that impressed with the lip product formula. Ever since Lisa Eldridge became creative makeup director for Lancome, the brand has created the most revolutionary lip products and have become more versatile as a brand at large. We are already big fans of the Juicy and Matte Shakers which are beautiful and wearable formulas in their own right. The L'Absolu Lacquer glosses last for hours and withstand drinking and eating, what's better is that once they wear off they stain your lips in a really natural and pretty way.

5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in "Park Ave Princess" - Whilst we must admit that this product is a bit harder to get your hands on, this best-seller bronzer might be a new favourite of ours. The colour is warm and glowy without being in-your-face shimmery, it promises to flatter many skin tones and adds dimension. We have yet to put the waterproof guarantee to the test but the long-wearing formula is something we really appreciate about this product.

6. Marc Jacobs Dew Drops in "Dew You" - Last and certainly not least is the most beautiful liquid highlighter products we have ever laid our eyes on. Yes, this is a splurge item, but there is justification for buying this bottle of magic. The ultra-luxe frosted glass bottle contains 24ml and you only need a small pump of the product for your whole face. It's versatile, you can mix it in with your primer, moisturiser or foundation, build it up as a bold highlight or achieve an all-over glow. This is another product with coconut in it, this time a coconut infused gel which feels hydrating on the skin and smells delicious.
