She's the highest selling shoe designer in New Zealand for good reason, her store is like a brilliant museum dedicated to magnificent and beautifully crafted footwear.
Few shoe designers have debuted their collections during Fashion Week, but Kathryn Wilson has devoted customers who are eager to see her newest creations.
It's the middle of Fashion Week and everyone is familiar with this years vibe now, it is impossible to imagine the pressure to out-do last years performance every single year but our designers seem to do it.
With the constant and increasing presence of social media, a huge element of Fashion Week, the one thing that designers can hope for is that influencers will open their Instagram and snap a photo of their designs.
It's show time. We are escorted to our seats, the lights go down and a film flickers on the screen, setting the tone for the show and her much anticipated new collection.
The show has everyone in their seats nodding to the beats of Beyoncé's "Run The World" and Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl", the most upbeat soundtrack you could ever experience at a fashion show.
The logistics of a shoe collection debuting on the runway seem tricky; how do you get the audience to have their eyes glued to the shoes in captivation; as if they are the models themselves?
Kathryn Wilson brought to life an army of superwomen for this show, designing a costume of hot pants, lycra bodysuits and shoulder pads, styled like a marching band. Think patriot colours; red, navy and silver, this is the theme of her show and the new collection.
This year was monumental for the acclaimed shoe designer, celebrating 15 years since the brand launched, constantly in high demand as a go-to for premier designer footwear, she has little time to reflect on her abundance of success.
The show is arguably the highlight of our fashion week experience, a delayed start had guests grumbling in their seats, but the show redeemed itself with a bright tempo and a fabulous line of shoes, if only we could attain them all.
