A new month is nearing closer and we can't wait to experience what September has on offer. This coming month symbolises the end of Winter and the entrance into Spring, meaning there is so much more to explore within Auckland's food and culture scene, hello outdoor markets! Each year, September treats us to a host of fantastic events, it all comes down to which are the ultimate unmissable's. We are celebrating the month by curating a social calendar; the September Food and Culture Guide.

Location: ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, 161 Halsey St, Viaduct Basin

New Zealand Fashion Week is the most highly anticipated event of the year for those in tune with the local design sphere. It puts a spotlight on the efforts of acclaimed Kiwi designers; Trelise Cooper, World, Zambesi, Hailwood and Stolen Girlfriends Club to name just a few. Find the index here. It gives designers a chance to debut their Spring/Summer collections, the most important clothing launch of the year.

The week-long festivity includes fashion shows, VIP dining events and the Fashion Weekend where you can shop designers on sale, enjoy what the vendors have on offer and much more.

Location: Auckland Seafood School, 23-32 Jellicoe St, Freemans Bay

Auckland Seafood School is hosting a master class of all things seafood - with a twist. Purchasing a ticket to the class buys you the unique experience of being tutored by an experienced chef and creating fresh, one-of-a-kind recipes. The experience is heightened by the fact that you'll be sipping on premium wine, champagne and beer throughout the class. The Glass Goose Spring Blossom Rooftop Pop-up – September 7th – October 6th

Location: The Glass Goose Bar, 78 Federal Street

This trendy central Auckland bar has become the hub of mixology. In keeping with what is seasonally à la mode, the team at The Glass Goose customises their event and coveted alcoholic creations to perfection. In June they hosted a Secret Winter Garden Pop-Up which induced major wanderlust, covering the rooftop bar in lanterns and winter-themed flowers and serving up Kombucha cocktails.

This coming month The Glass Goose is stepping it up a notch and gracing us with a festival dedicated to all things Spring. The bar team developed delectable drinks as a 3-part cocktails series, including a “Pink Lush” combining rosé and candy floss as well as a sauvignon blanc topped with a zesty pink popsicle. The pop-up is on every Friday evening throughout the month so there is so excuse to miss this out. Queer Scenes Monthly Film Screening – September 6th    Location: Basement Theatre Lower Greys Avenue, Auckland CBD

Culture-wise in the Auckland scene during September, the Basement Theatre is hosting a free movie screening aimed at bringing LGBTQI+ people together to see themselves represented on the big screen. The lack of diversity in film at large is problematic, this event aims at tackling the issues at hand and provides inspiration for promising filmmakers or people that want to see more diversity in the industry. We are amped for the event and for what the Basement Theatre are set to deliver film wise. For the Love of Food Trucks Festival - September 6th   Location: La Cigale French Market, 69 St Georges Bay Road, Parnell.

If you’re a food truck fiend, this event is right up your alley. The food truck scene in Auckland is always expanding and becoming more diverse. The festival provides a fantastic chance to sample a bunch of dishes, from lovingly made dumplings by The Rolling Pin and authentic gelato by Lalele Gelato. The event is hosted at La Cigale French Market in Parnell during the evening and to make things better, the La Cigale bar will be open for wine and beer to accompany your mini feast.

Speak Up! Celebrating 125 Years of Women’s Suffrage – September 8th Location: Aotea Centre, 50 Mayoral Drive, Auckland CBD

September this year marks 125 years of Women's suffrage, a hugely significant event in the history of New Zealand and for Women all over the world. This empowering event features a panel of powerful, opinionated and diverse female voices, discussing and debating current New Zealand issues and contemporary society going forward for females. She will be joined by Fashion Quarterly editor Sally-Ann Mullin who can provide insight into New Zealand's magazine industry and what the future holds for Fashion Quarterly. The setting makes the event that bit better, Euro Bar is an Auckland icon itself and the three-course lunch by Executive Chef Gareth Stewart, accompanied by a cocktail on arrival, will make the day especially memorable. Korean Food Night Market – September 30th – October 7th Location: Glenfield Mall, Downing Street, Glenfield

Korean cuisine has become a major contender in the Auckland food scene over the past few years. Korean BBQ restaurants are hot-spots for social gatherings, soju and grilled meat are the perfect pair. The experience of the Korean Food Night Market promises an insight into the vibrant, busy pace of authentic markets for which Seoul is best known. Fifteen food vendors means a host of food is on offer, from much-loved dishes like spicy chicken and bulgogi to kimchi burgers and Korean sausages.
